This guide will help you set up and use your new phone with ease. The Big Button 200 is designed to make calling and receiving calls more comfortable, especially if you find smaller buttons and lower volume levels challenging.
Setting up your phone
Finding the right location
- Choose a Flat Surface: Place your phone on a flat, stable surface.
- Avoid Heat and Humidity: Keep it away from heat sources like radiators and direct sunlight, and avoid humid areas like the bathroom.
- Ensure Ventilation: Make sure the area is well-ventilated and not covered by objects or thick carpets to prevent overheating.
- Proximity to Phone Socket: Place the phone within 3 meters of a telephone line socket.
Activating the batteries
- Remove the Plastic Tab: Your phone comes with 4 AA batteries already installed. To activate them, pull the plastic tab on the underside of the phone.
- If you need to replace the batteries, unplug the phone from the power, turn it over, and lift the battery cover. Use the same size and type of batteries.
Connecting the telephone line
- Use the Provided Cord: Connect the telephone line cord to the wall socket. Use only the cord provided with the phone.
- Microfilter for broadband: If you have broadband on the same line, use a microfilter to avoid interference. If your phone socket has a single socket, you’ll need a microfilter. If it has two separate sockets, you don’t need one.
Using your phone
Making a call
- Lift the phone: Pick up the handset and wait for the dial tone.
- Dial the number: Use the large, easy-to-see buttons to enter the telephone number.
- Handsfree mode: Press the Call Handsfree button to use handsfree mode.
Receiving a call
- Answer the call: When the phone rings, the red incoming call LED will flash. Pick up the handset or press the Call Handsfree button to answer.
- Adjust volume: Use the -Vol. and Vol.+ buttons to control the volume during the call.
Adjusting the Volume
- Handset volume: Set the volume switch on the underside of the base to 'Hearing' or 'Voice'. Use the -Vol. and Vol.+ buttons to adjust the volume during a call.
- Handsfree volume: Use the -Vol. and Vol.+ buttons to control the loudspeaker volume in handsfree mode.
Adjusting the ringer volume and tone
- Ringer Volume: Set the volume switch on the underside of the base to High, Low, or Off.
- Ringer Tone: Choose from three different tones: R1, R2, or R3.
Using Handsfree Mode
- Make a Call: Press the Call Handsfree button and enter the number.
- Answer a Call: Press the Call Handsfree button when the phone rings.
- Adjust Volume: Use the -Vol. and Vol.+ buttons to control the loudspeaker volume.
Last Number Redial
- Lift the Handset or Press Handsfree: Lift the handset or press the Call Handsfree button.
- Press the Redial Button: The last number called will be redialled automatically.
One-Touch Memory
- Store a Number: Lift the handset or press the Handsfree button.
- Press and Hold Quick Dial: Press and hold the Quick dial button for 2 seconds.
- Select Memory Button: Press one of the one-touch memory buttons (M1, M2, or M3).
- Dial the Number: Enter the number you want to store.
- Save the Number: Press and release the Quick dial button again.
Quick Dial Memory
- Store a Number: Lift the handset or press the Handsfree button.
- Press and Hold Quick Dial: Press and hold the Quick dial button for 2 seconds.
- Dial the Number: Enter the number you want to store.
- Save the Number: Press and release the Quick dial button again.

- Indoor Use Only: The Big Button 200 is designed for indoor use in the UK and Ireland.
- Ventilation: Keep the phone in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating.
- Children’s Safety: Keep the phone and cables out of reach of young children.
- Battery Safety: Only use the 4 AA batteries provided. If you need to replace them, ensure the phone is disconnected from the phone line. Dispose of old batteries safely.
- Water and Humidity: Avoid placing the phone in damp areas or near water sources.
- Damage Check: Regularly check your phone for any damage. If you notice any issues, stop using the phone and contact the helpdesk.
- Electrical Storms: Unplug the phone line cord during an electrical storm to avoid potential damage.
